Multiple wildfires continue to blaze across the Golden State, forcing thousands from their homes and threatening thousands of structures in California, according to local officials. There are no reported casualties at this time.
The Wall fire, located about 60 miles north of Sacramento, continues to burn across 5,600 acres and has caused a mass evacuation of 4,000 residents.
According to Cal Fire, four people have been injured by the Wall fire’s flames, and only 35 percent of the wildfire has been contained as of Monday morning. Gov. Jerry Brown issued a state of emergency Sunday for Butte County, where 7,400 more are at risk of mandatory evacuation.
Likewise, the Whittier fire in southern Santa Barbara County has forced 3,500 people to flee. This fire began Saturday, and its flames have scorched 7,800 acres. It is only 5 percent contained.
Meanwhile, the Alamo fire, the largest active fire in California, started Thursday in San Luis Obispo County and continued into northern Santa Barbara County. It has burned across 28,926 acres and is only 15 percent contained, according to the California Department of Forestry & Fire Protection. At least 200 residents have been forced to evacuate the affected area, Cal Fire said.
