Originally shared on social media by ShrimpApplePro, an apparent packaging leak for the M4 MacBook Pro seems to showcase a couple features for the laptop that we didn’t quite expect. The leak is unverified, so take it with a grain of salt.
According to the leak, the new M4 MacBook Pro will have 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Previous leaks suggested that all M4 Macs would start with at least 16GB of RAM, and this packaging reaffirms this.
Additionally, this packaging claims that the base model M4 MacBook Pro will have a 10 core CPU and 10 core GPU, as prior reports suggested. The M3 chip currently has an 8 core CPU and 10 core GPU.
Another interesting detail is that this packaging says that the model will have three Thunderbolt 4 ports, unlike the current M3 MacBook Pro. The current base model MacBook Pro only has two Thunderbolt ports.
Finally, although unclear, one line seems to say “SPB/10C CPU/10C GPU/16GB/512GB” while listing out the specs. “SPB” is short for Space Black on MacBook packaging, while silver models use “SLV”. This could mean that the base MacBook Pro comes in Space Black rather than Space Gray as it did last year.
This leak does seem very sketchy, and it could very easily be faked. However, if it is fake, it’s a very good fake. One commenter pointed out that the packaging shows a QR code to learn more about the MacBook, which Apple only started doing with the iPhone 16 lineup.
On the other hand, it also references “Apple ID” on the packaging, so who knows. Apple seems to be a bit inconsistent about using “Apple Account” everywhere, as the transition begins.
