Cable Mobile Bundles Help Americans Save Money

Cable broadband providers have expanded their offerings to include mobile service, giving Americans more choices for their cell providers than ever before. And when bundled with home broadband service, the savings are clear.

Helping Americans’ bottom line

With new options available from cable broadband, the once stagnant mobile marketplace has begun to heat up, and consumers are winning and saving money on their bills.

  • On average, by subscribing to cable’s home and mobile bundles, Americans can save between $364 and $700 annually on bundled home gigabit broadband and phone service.
    • Depending on the cable provider, consumers can even save up to $840 annually when bundling these services.

• On average, by subscribing to cable’s home and mobile bundles, Americans can save between $364 and $700 annually on bundled home gigabit broadband and phone service.

Consumers flock to new cable mobile plans

Fittingly, these lower-cost plans have been popular with Americans, according to analysis from industry research leader MoffettNathanson.

  • Cable’s share of total mobile phone net adds was roughly 54% in the second quarter of 2024.
  • That’s after cable accounted for over 75% of total mobile adds in the previous quarter.

The research firm notes that cable’s total share in the second quarter is “likely an underestimation” since the tally does not include net additions from Cox Communications, as well as other small and midsized operators that have recently begun to offer mobile service, including Mediacom.

As technological innovation and network evolution continue to open up new options for competition and the deployment of mobile services, consumers will continue to reap the benefits.
