Social Security COLA 2025: All payments before annual increase

The 2025 COLA will begin to take effect on Social Security checks beginning in January of next year 2025. However, this year’s 2024 benefits will continue to reach United States households at the same amounts we have seen so far.

Therefore, in order to get one of the payments with the Social Security 2025 COLA we will have to wait a little longer. For the time being, we will only have access to the check we have gotten so far. But it is certain that very soon we will even be able to find out what the percentage increase in retirement benefits will be.

Social Security payments before the end of the year

In the months of October, November and December the Social Security Administration will send out a large number of checks to citizens with an accepted benefit. So all we have to do is check what the requirements are for each of the payment days and enjoy these benefits directly.

Remember that all benefits, regardless of type and amount, arrive on the same days to the different groups. Therefore, just by having the check accepted, it makes no difference whether it is for disability or for other reasons.

The calendar for the coming months is as follows:

October

  • October 1: Supplemental Security Income payments for all Supplemental Security Income recipients.
  • October 3: Pensioners with benefits prior to May 1997 may collect.
  • October 9: Retirees with post-May 1997 checks who have a birthday between the 1st and 10th get payment on this day.
  • October 16: Retirees with post-May 1997 checks with birthdays between 11 and 20 receive payment on this day.
  • October 23: Retirees with post-May 1997 checks with birthdays between the 21st and 31st get payment this day.

November

  • November 1: Supplemental Security payments for all Supplemental Security recipients.
  • November 1: Retirees with a benefit prior to May 1997 are eligible for this payment.
  • November 13: Retirees with post-May 1997 checks who have a birthday between the 1st and 10th collect on this day.
  • November 20: Retirees with post-May 1997 checks with a birthday between the 11th and 20th get payment on this day.
  • November 27: Retirees with post-May 1997 checks with birthdays between the 21st and 31st get payment this day.
  • November 29: December Supplemental Social Security payment. This is because December 1 is a weekend.

December

  • December 1: Pensioners with benefits prior to May 1997 may collect this payment.
  • December 11: Retirees with a check after May 1997 who have a birthday between the 1st and the 10th collect on this day.
  • December 18: Retirees with post-May 1997 checks with birthdays between the 11th and 20th collect this day.
  • December 24: Retirees with post-May 1997 checks with birthdays between the 21st and 31st get payment on this day.
  • December 31: Complementary Social Security payment corresponding to the month of December. This is due to the fact that December 1st is a weekend.

Having Direct Deposit activated we will be able to get the money immediately, so we will not have to wait even one day to use the Social Security check. But if we do not have this collection option activated, the money will appear in the days after the Administration sends it.
