A new month is approaching and that means one thing for all Social Security beneficiaries: the arrival of an average payment of $1,800. Every month, the Social Security Administration issues more than 70 million payments to all beneficiaries of the program, the majority of whom are retired workers.
For 2023, the average payment is $1,827 for a retiree. However, the specific amount depends on various factors, such as their work history, the salary level received throughout their working years, and the tax contributions given to Social Security during that same period. These factors are considered in addition to the age at which the worker in question decides to request retirement.
Check issuance occurs every Wednesday, although the exact date depends on the day of birth of the beneficiaries. Those who were born between the 1st and the 10th receive the money on the second Wednesday of the month, while those with a birth date from the 11th to the 20th receive the money on the third Wednesday. Those whose birthdays fall on the 21st to the 31st get their money on the last Wednesday of the month.
People who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits and those who retired before May 1997 do not fall into the previous scheme, since they receive the money on the first day of the month.

Taking into account the distribution of payments, here is what the Social Security check schedule looks like for December, according to the date of birth of the beneficiaries:
