This bullet-proof 714hp Hellcat is a cop car Bond would be proud of

Dodge’s Charger SRT Hellcat is hardly a shy and retiring car normally, but the 714 hp sedan looks even more striking after being given the armoring treatment for one lucky law enforcement team. Handiwork of Armormax, it leaves the V8 muscle car fully bullet-resistant, not to mention capable of electrocuting people via its door handles.

Indeed, Armormax’s list of upgrades reads like James Bond and Batman got together and shared notes on how to max out their respective vehicles, with some extra contributions from the cast of Mad Max. As well as bullet-resistant glass and opaque armor for the entire passenger compartment, the Hellcat gets high-powered rifle protection too. Armormax says it should even stand up to grenades.

There are gas masks inside, which can deploy in case of a chemical attack, and a smoke screen cloak for the outside. Armormax has fitted electrified door handles, just in case someone refuses to let go, and there are concealed ram bumpers. Edging on ridiculousness, there’s a tack dispenser for destroying other drivers’ rubber.

That shouldn’t happen to the Armormax Hellcat, however, courtesy of run-flat tires. There’s extra radiator protection, too, along with an anti-theft tailgate grill. “Blinding lights” together with a full hundred strobe lights and a siren PA intercom system round things out.

Impressively, Armormax says that despite the upgrades the performance of the car is little changed from stock. You can still open the windows, even. Then again, with the 2018 Charger Hellcat coming with a 6.4-liter V8, perhaps it’s no surprise that it’s still a very fast car.

The company says that it’s the first armored Hellcat in the world, and all the upgrades were designed and fitted in Ogden, Utah, where Armormax is based. What it isn’t confirming is which law enforcement agency supplied the donor vehicle and paid for the changes, nor how much it set that agency back.
